Integrating Aquaculture and Fisheries Management towards a sustainable regional development in the Baltic Sea Region

AQUAFIMA deals with integrated fisheries management and aquaculture in the Baltic Sea region. Sustainability and an ecosystem-friendly approach are priorities of the project. Using the analysis of the current situation as a starting point, new sustainable approaches such as area-based fisheries management or the inclusion of aquaculture in fisheries management, In addition, the evaluation of practices pertaining to certain species of fish and strategies for the improved use of fish and aquacultural products in regional development and tourism are an integral part of the project. Extensive educational activities serve to introduce the project results to the fisheries and aquaculture sector. The Darüber hinaus stehen die Evaluierung von Bestands- und Besatzmaßnahmen für einzelne Fischarten sowie eine Strategie zur verbesserten Nutzung von Fisch und Aquakulturgütern in Regionalentwicklung und Tourismus im Vordergrund. Twelve partners from seven countries participate in the project that iscoordinated by the Landesgesellschaft Mecklenburg-Vorpommern mbH. Furthermore, there are 21 associated partner organisation that accompany AQUAFIMA.
