Regional Adaptation Strategies for the German Baltic Coast (RADOST)

Climate change presents the German Baltic Sea region with the need for adaptation. Thus, in dialogue with science, industry, administration and civil society, RADOST aims to develop adaptation strategies for this region. The objective is to minimise damage to the economy, society and nature as well as seize the opportunities for development that come along with this change. Stakeholder networks and communication structures should be strengthened, even beyond the region. Project partners provide a number of best practice examples covering amongst others the topics: innovative processes for coastal protection; adaptation strategies for the tourism and port industry; aquaculture; route-specific optimisation of ship designs; combination of coastal protection and usage of geothermal energy.

EUCC-D’s tasks: Networking and dialogue in order to develop adaptation strategies for tourism and beach management. Communication and dissemination of the project results to a regional, national and international audience.

Duration: July 2009 to June 2014
