Erste flächendeckende Unterwasserbiotop-Karte der deutschen Ostsee

WissenschaftlerInnen des Leibniz-Instituts für Ostseeforschung Warnemünde (IOW) haben erstmals eine Karte erarbeitet, die flächendeckend und mit hoher Differenziertheit Unterwasserbiotope für die deutsche Ostsee und die deutsche „Ausschließliche Wirtschaftszone“ beschreibt.

Neuverteilung der marinen Artenvielfalt durch den Klimawandel

Durch die Erwärmung der Meere werden sich zukünftig einige Arten ausbreiten, so dass bislang ökologisch einzigartige Regionen sich immer mehr ähneln werden. Die Wissenschaftler dieser internationalen Studie haben zudem Meeresregionen identifiziert, in denen Naturschutz besonders erfolgversprechend ist.

Forscher untersuchen Öko-System an großem Küstenabschnitt

Viele Küstenabschnitte in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern sind durch Schutzbauten gesichert. Ob die auch für die Zukunft unter dem prognostizierten Meeresspiegelanstieg die beste Lösung sind, ist ungewiss. Eine Modellregion zeigt, wie menschliche Eingriffe Küstenmoor verändern.

A vast majority of respondents to a recent EU consultation believes that the EU and other public bodies could play a role in ecolabelling – but views on their required type of involvement are less clear. This is one of the main findings from the European Commission's recent consultation on an EU ecolabel for fisheries and aquaculture products.

Consultation on overcoming obstacles in border regions

For the last 25 years, the EU has been investing in cross-border cooperation through Interreg, a financing instrument for regional development across borders. The main purpose of this consultation is to collect experiences and opinions to get a comprehensive overview of what obstacles persist.

The European Commission today tabled its proposal on fishing opportunities in the Baltic Sea for 2016: more stocks than ever before to be fished at sustainable levels.

EU unterstützt Wandel zu verantwortungsbewusster Fischereipolitik

Um illegalen Fischfang einzudämmen, verabschiedete die EU 2010 eine Verordnung, nach der nur durch den betreffenden Flaggenstaat als legal gefangen bescheinigte Fischerzeugnisse ZUgang zu dem EU-Markt erhalten. Auf der Seafood Expo Global 2015 wurden einige Auswirkungen deutlich.
